Wisdom Tooth: Part Deux

This past Tuesday, I had the opportunity to have my first dental appointment in France (with a Dutch dentist, no less). While my visit was certainly not wisdom tooth related, the appointment reminded me that I needed to finish the second part to the Wisdom Tooth story.

And for those of you who may have been wondering: I had my wisdom teeth extracted between the ages of 14 and 15.

Yes, really. I had one side of my mouth done when I was fourteen then allowed a month of healing before having the other side be done after I turned fifteen.

I was a fairly early bloomer not only in puberty but also in getting bothersome teeth, much to the surprise of my parents and my former dentist who has since retired from her profession.

Enough chit-chat. Here's "Wisdom Tooth: Part Deux."

Never underestimate a wisdom tooth.

  1. Wow! You were very young when George was removed. Your cartoons are adorable. Favorite Young Man finally had his wisdom teeth removed recently. He's 34. He waited until they became infected and caused infection in the teeth next to them. It's so much more fun that way.

    1. Yes, not only did I emancipate George, I also did the same for Georgina, Georgette and Jorge Sr.

It seems like they are ALL plotting against the destruction of my mouth. :P

I hope that Favorite Young Man learned his lesson to never put off seeing the dentist, especially concerning ticking time-bomb molars.

    2. I doubt if FYM learned a thing. I foolishly pointed out how much better it is not to avoid the dentist for 12 years or so. His response was that getting the teeth taken care of when they were infected didn't take any more time than having them removed pre-infection. He doesn't seem to care that he was in lots of pain, and it was difficult to find a dentist to take care of him in a hurry. Or he had to disagree with me because my name is mom. Did you speak Spanish with Jorge Sr.?

    3. I had to. Jorge Sr. is a Cuban tooth who, while being fluent in English, refuses to speak any language besides Spanish. :P

  2. I feel like there must be some conspiracy between dentists and George the Wisdom Tooth. They must be working in cahoots...
