Ramen Makes Me Sad

The other day, while surfing through Netflix, I found an odd movie called The Ramen Girl. The movie is about a  woman who moves to Tokyo to be with her boyfriend, but is later abandoned there by the bastard. This poor abandoned soul ends up fascinated with the making of ramen and thus begins her adventures as the  new ramen chef.

I thought this movie was going to be boring, but alas, it turned out to be funny, especially when you have a language barrier.

Well after watching the movie, I felt like having ramen, but of course I never have any in my house. I don't want to look like a sumo wrestler eating ramen alone for 1 month. I can't just do that, unless I have super fast metabolism, which I don't.

Not only was I craving ramen, but I started to feel sad. I'm not sure if the sadness began because of my need for ramen or because the movie portrayed the struggles of a ramen chef, but I felt unhappy. My thoughts were all over the place, I didn't know what to do with myself.

Of course, I fell asleep after a moment of craziness and forgot all about it. Until I went to the grocery store and saw a pack of ramen.

Now, every time I see a pack of ramen, I get instantly sad. FML.

  2. Boo! I love ramen. Not the kind in a package though. That reminds me too much of being a poor college student. But the super yummy stuff at Japanese restaurants, I'm all over that.

Now I need to go check out that movie. Sounds like my kind of flick.

  3. Somehow, I made it into my late 20s without ever trying Ramen. Not sure how it happened.

    2. Now I've got a mind to pick up some. Probably a decent idea, since I can barely cook anyway.

  4. Ramen used to be my savior. It was all I could afford to eat in college. I guess that can be seen as sad in itself.

    1. It's not sad, that's how majority of college students are, except for me O_o I go for the fancier stuff and I'm not even rich.

  5. We eat too much ramen. It doesn't usually make me sad, though. Just a bit gassy.

  6. Absolutely the best movie review ever. So sad. I always thought ramen was more salty than sad, but maybe that is only top ramen.

    1. Haha thanks! Lol depends how you make ramen, if I don't include the broth it comes with and add other ingredients, I can get it to taste not so salty. It's only sad if you have memories with ramen and people that make you sad....

  8. This was so cute, and so sad. Funny, I'm generally such a food snob but sometimes I find myself craving certain cheap junky foods...like now, thanks to this ramen-licious post. LOL

  9. I think ramen is quite a comfort food though so if you get sad you can eat it and then be happy.

  10. I'm almost thirty, and Ramen remains one of the staples of my pantry. I'm not sure I want to know what that says about me.

  14. This is probably in the "too much information" category, but ramen noodles make me constipated. I hear of unemployed people trying to live on ramen noodles. I don't see how it is possible. I would be dead in a month if I tried that. Anyway I have heard of that ramen noodle girl movie. I think maybe I should add it to my Netflix too. Well, let me sleep on this before I make my decision.

  15. I saw "The Ramen Girl" ages ago, and needless to say I loved it. It's basically a whole movie about stuff I love -- Japan, ramen, being by myself most of the time, all that good stuff.

I could live off of the cheap stuff. It so awesome. But after seeing this movie, and playing "The World Ends With You"(if you've played it, you know the scene I'm talking about), I really really want to try the *real* stuff sometime.

When I visit Japan, which I will do someday, a real honest-to-goodness noodle house is right at the top of my to-do list!

    1. Now that sounds like a plan! That is also on top of my list, maybe the real thing will make me happy and not this cheap stuff that reminds me of old memories.

  16. I thought you were going to say that it made you sad when you remembered that Brittany Murphy died. >< It's a really cute movie though! :)

  17. If you're having issues concerning infidelity and don't know how to go about it, I have been with a cheating spouse before and trust me I know how it feels, those suspicions are not mere paranoia. If you suspect that he is cheating, he might actually be..I hired the service of a tech guru who helped me install monitoring bugs on my ex's phone that diverted all his messages( facebook, whatsapp, text messages, and even phone calls) to my phone, remotely. You can as well reach out to this tech guru at 'hackingloop6@gmail.com, he is the man for the job, with a very high level of professionalism and highly reliable. I really enjoyed working with him and the few friends I told have been nothing but thankful to me for the referral. Drop him a text also on WhatsApp +1 (484)540 - 0785. Lastly, let him know I referred you, he will surely be of help.
