Uh-Oh...

I have a job interview on Monday. ZOMG.

I've just realized that I do not have interview-appropriate clothes that fit me. The clothes I used to wear are far too large and I do not want to look like a clown in my old trousers.

I am in France, and I can't find pants in my size.

I have only this week-end to find something, anything, that would make me look presentable and hireable. I need a classy tailleur that fits me. Pencil skirts are not body-compliant either.

HELP.

...And for some reason, my internet source is being detected as coming from near Paris! As far as I know, I'm still in Dijon, Bourgogne. :-P

  1. I know your pain. As a short person in Holland it is very hard to find trousers that fit. I'm sure you'll find something though.

  2. Ugh, I would hate to be in your predicament. But the good thing is that you don't have clothing to fit because you LOST weight, as opposed to the opposite.

That seems to be my problem.

    Good luck, Barb!!

  3. Yeah, that little thing says that I'm in Port Hadlock, Washington. I've never even heard of that place. As for your predicament, any friends your size whose closets you can raid? That's really my only idea. Or get some fabric and sew a skirt? I'm sure there are patterns on the Internet.

  4. what about a dress instead of pants? that way you won't have to worry about finding a pair that fits properly on such short notice. good luck!!!!!

  5. Stu: I find that the clothes are cut narrower for people here, even for larger persons. Thanks for feeling the finding clothing abroad pain, bro.

Amber: It is a spectacular thing that I can't fit into the clothes anymore, but it just becomes pressing for me to find something! Isn't it messed up how I am more worried about finding some clothes than the actual interview? :-P

Jay: I really don't know any women over here who are my size or body shape. I suppose that I could ask a man, but then I would be wearing men's clothes! Eek!

Jess: I'm considering a jacket/blazer and skirt ensemble. Despite having bought 7 dresses last month, NONE of them are good enough for an interview. :-P

  6. Ah, the terrible voyage of finding appropriate interview clothes - it's not like the interview itself is stressful enough lol. Please keep us updated on what you found - and good luck!!

  7. Dear Barb,
Your Jacket, Blazer, Skirt ensemble sure sounds like a winner.
If they get to be too loose, I am sure you can scrounge for a belt there somewhere and put it on to add some shape.
You can try to find an old blazer type with no huge collars or something like a loose vest, and put the belt on top of it! Voila!
Hope you can workaround some ideas from those tips.
    Cheers!

  8. I don't think I'd be able to help...but good luck with the interview.

  9. Barb, I keep trying to leave you comments and Firefox or Blogger keeps gobbling it up.

Are there consignment stores/gently used clothing stores there where you could grab a good-enough-for-now blazer to go with one of your lovely dresses?

It would be better than spending a ton of beans on something you don't really like, just because you are under the gun for time.

Hope the interview goes really well! I hope this comment doesn't get eaten!

Apparently, leaving comments on this blog is a hit-or-miss game of Russian roulette: you are either lucky and can comment away, or you are required to log in when the settings are CLEARLY set to allow trouble-free commenting (sorry 'bout that, folks). If anything, the Facebook page is always a viable option. :) -Barb
