A Literal Please With A Cherry On Top (a.k.a. I Need Your Help...Again!)

Hey, all!

I'm calling on you to help me out once again with something. Rather, it's not for me, but if you and your friends helped out, it certainly would make a couple of people happy!

Fellow Blogger Heather Rose over at Desperate for Something is betrothed to her beau, Charming, and she is in the middle of tearing her hairs out planning for the wedding. However, as a way to make said fateful day a bit more enticingly bearable, she has submitted a charming photograph to a contest to win $20,000 for a dream wedding.

As someone who likes to see other people be happy, I beseech all of you with a literal please with a cherry on top to vote for her!

The link to the contest page and her entry is this one: http://www.wpoc.com/cc-common/contests/photo_contest.php?image_id=260853&id=177469 .

(After you scroll down the page, you will be required to do some pain-in-the-rear-jumping-through-hoops tasks of registering and confirming your e-mail address, but that's pretty much customary in this day and age of internet stuff. Oh, and if you happen to be outside of the U.S., know that I don't necessarily condone fibbing, but feel free to use 33175 as the Zip Code so you can pretend to be from Miami, please pass on the word to your Ameri-pals. We don't want any fraudulent votes. :P)

The best part is that you can vote daily!!! (Wink, wink, nudge-nudge, folks.)

And in case literal pleases with a cherry on top aren't your thing...well, then, do it for the Freshly-Baked Cartoon Cookies. Voting for Heather Rose will make the Cookies feel all happy and feel like throwing a party.

Don't let the Cartoon Party Cookies (and, by extension, their baker) down.

And while you're at it, check out Heather's blog. You'll find her encounters with TSA agents to be cringe-worthily hilarious!

**UPDATE**

While Heather Rose's photo was easily the most creative of the contest, it unfortunately didn't make it to the top ten of the voting rank. Which sucks because she should have totally won.

I thank all of you for your help in participating with the contest! I'm grateful for it. :)

We Got An Award, Yo.

We here at Two Beans Or Not Two Beans have recently been granted The Versatile Blogger Award!

*cheers, fanfare, confetti and ticker tape parade*

As with most blogger awards, its acceptance comes with having to earn it by following as set of rules. So, without further ado, the procedures are as follows:

Numéro Un.
Nominate 15 bloggers for The Versatile Blogger Award.

These lucky fellows are none other than:

1. Invader Stu from Invading Holland. One of my (Barb) favorite blogs of ALL TIME. A fair warning, though: you may bust a gut laughing when you read about his hilarious cultural shock life in the lowlands.

2. Emily from Emily in the Glass. Emily writes beautifully about France and wines and takes awesome photography.

3. Seilann from Sand from a Distant Shore. Her blog is quite underground, so be sure to channel your inner hipster when you read it.

4. Neenuh over at Francey Pants. Her talented Minnesotan humor needs more exposure, folks.

5. Tricia at Confessions of a Recovering Cynic. She's going to publish a book soon!

6. Crazy Cris at Here, There and Everywhere. Her hiking journeys across Spain are simply gorgeous!

7. Joanna at Dehydration and Procrastination. Whenever she posts new cartoons, it is magical.

8. Ash from Ash-Matic Does Things. This new-comer is indeed up and coming with a blogging punch! His imaginative take on activities are hilarious and featured with cartoons.

9. Brandon and Bryan from A Beer for the Shower. Start reading their blog posts and cartoons and you won't stop until you've reached the very beginning of it...or have died from laughter.

10. Harley from 1., b., Platypus....Her various topics will keep you reading. Some will make you think and others will make you laugh (One of coffee bean's favorite reads).

11. Doublexuan from Whiny Pencil. He is an illustrator with some AMAZING illustrations. Check it out and be amazed!

12. Dave from Blogography. His cartoons are just too cute and he always has a good story to tell. He also has some nice pictures on his posts.

13. The person from Arguing with a Doughnut. Has crazy cartoons :D You will love it!

14. Amy from Geek with Curves. If you like all geeky things, like me, then you will simply love this blog. (Coffee bean especially loves all the good youtube videos!!)

15. The person from Ikea Hackers. Coffee bean loves all things from Ikea!! So she just couldn't help herself...

(To the award's recipients: even if you don't participate in these sort of posts, or have won it previously, just know that we do genuinely love your blogs and wanted to show some recognition!)

Numéro Deux.
In the same post, add The Versatile Blogger Award.

(Please take a moment to "ooh" and "ahh" at its glorious green splendor.)

Numéro Trois.

In the same post, thank the blogger who nominated you in a post with a link back to their blog.

That honor befalls upon none other than the lovely Anna Smith over at Universal Gibberish and Mik from Stylish Obsessions! Thank you so much!

Numéro Quatre.

In the same post, share seven completely random pieces of information about yourself.

Since there are two of us, we've decided to divide the Random Facts in half. Therefore, each fact will be evenly distributed by 3.5. You can read about these facts at the end of the rules list.

Numéro Cinq.
In the same post, include this set of rules.

Numéro Six.
Inform each nominated blogger of their nomination by posting a comment on each of their blogs.

Right. So, here are the Seven Random Facts about us, Coffee Bean and French Bean. We will also refer to ourselves in the third person because it will help distinguish who said what; please don't think we are pretentious like The Jerk Mido from Ocarina of Time.

Drumroll, please...

Uno.
French Bean and Coffee Bean met at the same high school, but due to the difference in their graduating years, they only ever shared one class together: yearbook.

Dos.
Coffee bean has a strange addiction to keys (i.e. key earrings, key necklaces, decorative keys etc...).

She has more key items somewhere. By the way, the earrings you see, she made them herself.

Tres.
If it weren't so detrimental to her health, French Bean would happily subsist on nothing but ice cream, café cubano, medianoche sandwiches and Stacy's "Simply Naked" Pita Chips.

But mostly ice cream.

Cuatro.
Hating the same routine and look, coffee bean changes her hair color/style every so often.

Cinco.
French Bean has a D.J. alter ego (who will be coming soon to a birthday blog post near you).

Seis.
Being a social drinker, coffee bean is proud to say that she can chug beer and other alcoholic drinks.

coffee bean does have a picture of her chugging down beer, but she rather not show it. Instead she will show you a picture of this fruity drink.

Siete.
To prevent any psychological distress, French Bean's underwear somehow needs to (rather illogically) either complement or coordinate with her wardrobe.

Take, for instance, this photo of her wearing a frilly top with red flowers.

Even if you don't see it, chances are French Bean is sporting her red bra and panties to go with it.

We are so happy to have had such an award bestowed on our blog! Thanks once again from both of us!

I NEED YOUR HELP (a.k.a., Freshly-Baked Cartoon Cookies)

I normally don't ask for much in this life (except to maybe go back to France), but I feel the need to insert a shameless plug humbly request something from you all.

What I will ask for is nothing too serious. In fact, if you do this, you will feel like a much better person. The kind who makes kitties purr in happiness when you stroke their warm, fluffy bellies.

My request is this: I ask that you take a few minutes and help Invader Stu out with a vote so his blog, Invading Holland, can win a Bloggie under "Best European Weblog" on the Twelfth Annual Weblog Awards.

Why should you vote for him?

1) 'Cause his blog is one of my absoloute favorite things on the internet, thus if one of my favorite things on the internet gets proper recognition, it will make me one happy little girl who will want to spread love, harmony and joy all over the world through freshly-baked cartoon cookies.

Mmm. Cookies...

2) 'Cause he's the official King of Holland (which has still yet to be disputed by the Royal Family).

And, simply put:

3) 'Cause he chronicles what it's like to live in a country that has a perplexing hard-to-learn language and equally perplexing customs, all with a good laugh and awesome cartoons. His blog freakin' deserves a Bloggie, people!

Apart from receiving such an honor as the Bloggie award, he will also earn 2,012 pennies, a.k.a. $20.12, which is approximately 15,27 Euros. That should finance him with enough funds to buy 6 jars of Speculoos, which are 3 jars more than what he would get in the States.

Again, please, please, a literal PLEASE with a cherry on top, vote for Invading Holland under "Best European Weblog" so it could win a Bloggie. (The link is embedded in there.)

Click it! Ya know ya want to... *waggles eyebrows*

Thanks so much!

One Year Bloggiversary!

We can hardly believe how much has happened in this past year, or how quickly time seems to pass on by.

Well, rather than looking back, all we can do at this point is to look forward and continue with our adventures!

We here at Two Beans or Not Two Beans certainly couldn't have reached the one-year bloggiversary without our readers! It really means a lot to us to know that there are people out there who read our crap writings.

Here's to many, many more years to come!

What Does 100 Mean to Us?

These are some of the things we think of when we hear the number 100:

-Benjamin Franklin/ Cuba Gooding, Jr.
-Calories in every donut bite (because the donut itself is more than that...)
-Miles per hour until the cops arrest me when I'm driving
-Ways to get out of jail
-How to lose this number of pounds during a diet
-birds chasing after me (ok more like 5, but it felt like a 100)
-Points I earned as I played Sonic the Hedgehog
-Degrees outside
-The score I can never earn on a biology test
-Reasons to not get back with my ex
-Hours I spend wasting time on the internet per week
-Ways to get rid of a Creeper wherever you go
-Cents 'til I get to a dollar
-Minutes left on my cellphone
-Ways to torture your ex
-Million-dollar quick rich schemes we may or may not have
-Dollars is all I need to finish paying my mortgage on Animal Crossing
-Dollar Menu McDonald's will have in the year 2110
-Bottles of beer on the wall
-Sheep I see every night
-Grams of chocolate that I want to eat
-Ways to kill a roach with a spatula (don't ask)
-One dalmatian short of a Disney film
-Reasons why you should burn Monopoly the game
-Pigeons aiming for my car
-Times my Demon Chihuahua barks in 2 minutes
-The number of croissants I will want to eat during my first week in Dijon
-The number of calories I burn from kissing my "best friend" (well...I burn a little more than that ;-) )

Hm. There seems to be something missing. What could it be...?

...Oh, yeah! This is also our HUNDREDTH POST!

Thanks everyone for taking your time to read our posts!

Conversation: The Bloopers of Blogging

We girls tend to have some interesting exchanges when we chat via Facebook about our blog. Most of them deals with the mishaps we encounter with post ideas and overall technology.

Before you read this, we should inform you a little about the background of this post: we girls have been planning to modify the blog's title logo. Since Barb is a technological dummy, the attempts have been less than successful...

Barb: What did your web designer friend suggest we do?

Hanny: He says that we should make the logo with a transparent background and save it, preferably as a PNG file.

Barb: Okay.

Hanny: Do you want to change the logo, or should we keep the same font?

Barb: Can you take a snapshot of the blog's title and email it to me?

Hanny: Sure. Hold on.

Barb: If you can email me that pic, I could work on the change today.

(I'm probably not going to post something today. I'm not in the mood. --.--)

Hanny: do you want it with the mishaps of two human beans?

I will be posting something ^^ almost done too

Barb: yay!

And sure.

Well, actually, can you make two snapshots?

Hanny: hold on i am going to show you

Barb: Okay.

Hanny: you got mail

Barb:Yay!

(opens Facebook inbox; clicks link; looks at picture)

Hm. I'll see what I can do with this.

Hanny: okay if it doesnt seem to workout let me know maybe i can have buddy help me with it :p

Barb: Okie-dokie.

Also: do you think you could share the snail post on your wall?

It might get people interested.

Two of my friends posted the link on their walls, but it was very late at night. --.--

We only got a handful of visitors.

Hanny: one of my friends posted it too

Barb: Yay!

Hanny: and i will post it, but I want to do so when the title part is complete so that everyone can see the new version.

Since alot of them already saw this layout before, and yet have not subscribed >_< >_>

[I put way too many faces with my sentences :p and there I go again >_<]

Barby question how would you say this "ending with me exploding into millions of pieces" or "ending with my exploding into millions of pieces" hmm maybe i should just change the sentence O.o

[Haha! I don't know why this sentence was giving me such a hard time]

Barb: What's the entire sentence?

Hanny: I think I am just going to change it I do not like the sentence.

Barb: Oh, all righty.

Hanny: However, in Florida weather the body suit would probably end up sufficating me, ending with me exploding into a million pieces.

[If you suffocate, you will explode...that is just as bad as dying and THEN exploding...tsk tsk]

that was the sentence O.o

bleh, it is being rewritten

Barb: Yeah.

I don't see the rapport with suffocation and explosion.

It doesn't really go.

Hanny: haha funny thing about that is that when i say suffocating I mean something completely different.

Barb: However, in the Floridian heat, the body suit would only suffocate me, or cause me to explode into millions of tiny pieces.

[*eyes widen* why didn't I think of that! Er durrrr]

Hanny: oo yay thanks.

Barb: No problem.

(Barb starts trying to make the background transparent and thinks "WTF")

Hanny: lol i completely changed it.

(At this point, Barb is thumping her head against the desk in utter confusion about Paint's mechanics.)

Barb: How would I make the background transparent?

Hanny: you know on paint when you have to do the selection box? to the side you will see two selections it gives you. one is to do transparent and the other is to not do it transparent

[I didn't have to even look at paint for that...I spend way too much of my time on the computer.]
Barb: Let me check it out

Hanny: kk

(Barb is still confused.)

Barb: I...don't see that. o_O

It's to the left hand side of the page that has all the icons, right?

Hanny: yes and then click on the selection square tool, and to the bottom left you will see two figures

(Barb looks at the boxes; she has a revelation.)

Barb: Wait. Do you mean the graph-looking thingy?

Hanny: yes

Barb: Ah.

Hm.

i've used that before, but I thought that was only for the picture. :-P

Hanny: nope

Barb: --.--

You see why I couldn't do this blog alone? Ugh.

"Uh, der, what's that thingy majigger called? A mouse? That's the strangest mouse I ever done saw!"

Hanny: lol!!!

our chat today has been amusing. The bloopers of blogging

[Light bulb!]

Barb: Yep.

It would make a good conversation post. :-P

Hanny: O.o we should put a bloopers section

[We are genius beans]

Barb: Yes!

Hanny: and that too!

Barb: Do you want to copy and paste it?

Conversation bloopers.

Hanny: sure :p

should I also make a page of it?

Barb: Yeah. Why not?

Hanny: and this post can introduce our new bloopers page?

[Check out the new bloopers page! go all the way up, to your right hand side].

Barb: I've noticed that people don't click on the tabs too much, though.

Yes!

Hanny: That is because we need to advertise them a bit more.

alright! i posted.

Barb: yayz!

I'm almost done copying and pasting the stuff.

Hanny: ooo ok. are we going to make comments on the end of our sentences?

[Look I made a comment at the end :D]

Barb: I think that would be good.

Hanny: LOL! i was going to make the page "Bloopers" instead I ended up writing "Bloogers"

[another one of our bloopers except it was done on the word blooper. lol]

Barb: Sounds like boogers.

Hanny: I know. I was thinking of that too.

Blogging = Sanity

Nowadays, blogging has become something sensational to do among those who like to write (and in certain cases make money). Of course I don't do it for money...

Blogging started for me when my heart was viciously torn into pieces by someone very dear to me, but the more I blogged the more I started to realize how much it was helping me heal.

Then I started to think about what would happen if I didn't blog...What would happen to me? Did blogging really help me? or am I just hallucinating and it wouldn't have made a difference?

My mind went berserk trying to imagine life without blogging (of course I have other things to do, but still blogging helps me keep sanity).

If I didn't blog....

  • I think a volcano would erupt hitting only my house till every trace of my existence disappeared.

  • I would probably come home after a long day, find myself all alone, and roll myself into a ball rocking back and forth.

  • I would be roaming outside probably asking for money (though I do believe I'll eventually get to that).

(They don't all have to have a picture).

  • Wild boars will appear out of nowhere and attack me because they can smell the insanity, that I will possess for not blogging.
(Nope...still no picture...).

  • I would sleep drive from lack of sanity or some sort of mental disorder...Trust me if my driving is already bad awake, imagine just how bad it would be to sleep drive. (for those of you who are not familiar with sleep driving, it is usually caused by some mental disorder).

(Too lazy to make a picture...).

  • I would probably become a vicious person, whose sole purpose in life is to live with the wolves.

  • I would get so bored that it would make me walk around the nearby forest; getting bit by a rabid squirrel, and turning me into a rabid human. Eventually I will spread the rabies causing the end of human civilization.

Blogging has saved millions and millions of lives...It has saved a lot of people from making humiliating mistakes, stalking ex's, going out and being socially awkward, running around in the nude, getting drunk and later mooning your parents-in-law etc...(of course when I say "a lot of people" I mean me).

If it weren't for blogging, I would be a danger to human civilization. Luckily, human civilization is free from rabies as long as I keep blogging.

So did blogging make a difference? I think so...I saved the world from my insanity and I am happily sane.

Mobile Blogging: My Way

Let's face it technology is advancing at a fast pace. From books to a kindle, Film cameras to digital cameras, VCR to blue ray, Big dinosaur computers to laptops, and so forth.

Even cell phones are getting better! We have the iphones, blackberry, and all the other pretty ones..But wait! we also have the kin. For those of you who have not seen the thousands of commercials on the kin, it is a cell phone that is specialized for social networking. Now as good as this cell phone and all other cellphones are, it still does not fulfill my need as a blogger.
Sure there's many ways to blog from a cellphone, but since it is not one of the main things on a cellphone, it always ends up looking like texts. Well at least on my phone.

So on my way to the gym, I started to imagine what my perfect blogging phone would be.

1. It has to have a big screen, those tiny screens just will not cut it for my blogging needs. I need to see the screen, and all the features I usually see on a normal computer.

2. The qwerty keys have to be big, I do not have hamster hands.

3.
I have to see a nice background. Do not give me the logo backgrounds, I want nice cool backgrounds. It would be a plus if I could make the background from scratch.

4. I love shortcuts and pretty little squares filling up my screen!

Now if we put it together, I will get a......

A CALENDAR?! or well a flat computer...

Maybe I should just stick to my computer or buy a netbook before I end up with medusa hair, and just leave cell phones for calls and texts.

(someday I will make the best phone ever....probably flat too).
