Today is the 14th of July. Outside of France, that probably doesn't mean much...
But today is la Fête Nationale, commemorating the day prisoners in the Bastille were liberated during the French Revolution. Today, there will be a HUGE crowd gathered by the foot of la Tour Eiffel. The French will proudly wave their tricolore. They might even, as unwritten partying tradition proclaims, get roaring drunk by tonight.
AND I AM NOT THERE.
It is one of my life goals to celebrate le 14 juillet in France, if possibly, in Paris. I had been hoping to have done that this year, but things didn't work out. Perhaps I shall have that opportunity next summer...

Apparently, leaving comments on this blog is a hit-or-miss game of Russian roulette: you are either lucky and can comment away, or you are required to log in when the settings are CLEARLY set to allow trouble-free commenting (sorry 'bout that, folks). If anything, the Facebook page is always a viable option. :) -Barb
